Ice Update Lake Ice Open Effective January 9, 2025

Hey Residents,

We’re excited to announce that the lake is now open for all your favourite winter activities, including skating, hockey, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing!

That said, we want to set clear expectations: while the lake is safe for use, the surface isn’t as smooth as we’d like just yet. The frequent freeze-thaw cycles and warm weather this season have made it challenging to create a perfectly polished surface. Until the ice thickens enough to safely support heavy equipment like the Zamboni, we’ll continue to work with lighter tools to refine the ice as much as possible.

We encourage everyone to use the lake carefully your safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to improve the conditions.

A reminder our flags are still flying YELLOW Meaning The lake is open but please check the SSRA website prior to use for details regarding increased risk, and exercise caution and discretion prior to and/or during use. For current flag status please visit our website > Flags > Current Status
