ICE UPDATE: JELLYBEAN RINK & PARK HOURS

Skates?  Winter gear?  Ice rink open?  It’s time to grab your skates Summerside!We are pleased to announce that our Land-based Pleasure Rink (the JELLYBEAN), will be OPEN as of today Monday, December 18, 2023. Because of this rink opening, our hours of operation change!

The park hours are as follows starting Monday, December 18, 2023 

Monday – Friday 10 am – 10 pm

Saturday – Sunday 9 am – 10 pm

Office hours remain the same Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm.

LAKE ice surfaces are not quite ready for skating, so only Jellybean Rink for now! However, the lake ice is open for FOOT TRAFFIC & ICE FISHING! Lake ice surfaces are NOT AVAILABLE until ice thickness allows for our heavier equipment onto the surface for our parks team to prepare. Due to the high volume of traffic, we see, the parks team needs to make sure these surfaces are properly prepared and in the best condition possible!

A friendly reminder that hockey pucks and sticks are NOT allowed on any Pleasure Rinks (Jellybean). Stay tuned for an update on the opening date of our Lake Ice and Hockey Rinks.

Please note that during any days where temperatures are above 0 degrees and our ice surfaces have the potential to get damaged due to warmer weather, restrictions could be in place on rink use to keep our surfaces in the best condition possible. The SSRA reserves the right to close skating rinks on short notice if deemed ice surfaces are not safe.

It’s important to remember that safety can change rapidly and the risk of ice weakness increases during warmer temperatures, therefore please use extreme caution if you choose to go onto the lake at this time. We will continue to monitor and measure ice depth and communicate any updates. Be sure to look out for any large cracks and water on ice surfaces and contact us immediately if you see these concerns. Don’t forget to follow our rules and regulations for fishing.
