Ice Update- January 24

Hi Summerside, check out the important ice update below!

As you can see in the following pictures and as a result of the rain and warm temperatures recently, we have reached soft ice conditions and water pooling in some areas. Currently, there is a consistent level of water under the snow over the entirety of the lake. There’s too much water to clear in certain sections and therefore we will have to wait for it to freeze. We have closed the following ice surfaces for at least the next 48 hours:
• NHL Hockey Rink
• Hockey Rink #2
• Loops
• Jelly Bean (Land based rink)

Luckily, our wonderful Parks Teams was able to get a couple skate-able rinks ready for our skaters on a first come first serve basis only:
• LAKE Pleasure Rink (no capacity)
• LAND Based Hockey Rink (MAX capacity 10 people)

Ice Fishing remains open as per usual.

As always, please take precautions if using the lake. If you see any large cracks, holes or excessive water, please leave the ice and contact the SSRA immediately. Call the office at 780-497-7558, or after hours you can contact our gatehouse 780-756-6772.
