SSRA adjustments pertaining to new Health Restrictions
Hello Residents of Summerside.
With the Government of Alberta putting in new public health restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SSRA must adjust accordingly. See below for details of some of the steps the SSRA will be taking to continue to keep our Residents and their guests safe, and meet all public health requirements.
Programs and Events
All programming will follow the current provincial public health guidelines. Because public health orders state that indoor adult programming is not permitted unless a business is participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program, those registered/ registering for classes will either need to provide proof of vaccination, or proof of a negative test in order to participate.
For youth (under 18) programming, no proof of vaccination or negative test will be required, however other requirements will be in place such as screening for symptoms, maintaining 2 meters of distancing, (except while engaged in physical activity), and wearing a mask (except while engaged in physical activity). In indoor programs that require adults to participate with youth, adults will need to provide proof of vaccination, or proof of a negative test.
Where appropriate, some programming may also move outside.
For those who are already registered, the SSRA Programming and Events Team will be following up with you individually via the contact information that you have provided to us. Full refunds will be available to those who are not willing or able to provide the necessary documentation to us at this time.
Our staff will also continue to adjust to the public health orders that are in place while planning events that are safe and fun for the community to participate in. Further details will be released in the future.
Access to Buildings
At this time, which is historically one that has the SSRA see low levels of user traffic, we will not be requiring proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter our lobby, Multi-Purpose/ Skate Change Room, or washrooms. The SSRA will be following public health orders requiring a capacity, distancing, and masking in these areas. This policy will allow the SSRA to align with what public health officials are highlighting as a necessary method to keep our users safe, while also staying inclusive to all those in the community who use the park. As we approach our busy winter/ skating season, we will reevaluate this policy based on the information and public health restrictions at that time. Outdoor portable toilets will also remain available for use.
Hall Rentals
The SSRA has been in communication with public health authorities and is awaiting clarity regarding how the newly released public health restrictions will affect the rental of our hall space. We will be adjusting our policies based on the information provided to us. At this time, the SSRA will be temporarily suspending further booking of the hall prior to October 31st, and will be contacting those individuals with a booking in the near future.
The SSRA will continue to evaluate and adjust these policies as needed if public health orders change, or as new information is provided to us, and we may need to make future changes with little or no notice. The safety of our users and staff will continue to be our number one priority. We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time. Please contact the office with any questions or comments you may have.
