Ice Update: Land Based Hockey Rink & Lake Loop Jan 3/23
You better grab those hockey sticks, pucks and sharpened skates because ALL Skating Surfaces are now OPEN as of today, January 3, 2023. We are pleased to announce that our Land Based Hockey Rink (ODR) and Lake Perimeter Loop are open in addition to our other skating surfaces.
Ice surfaces include our 3 (that’s right THREE) hockey rinks on the lake, Pleasure Rinks & Loops, as well as our LAND Based Hockey Rink (ODR)! A friendly reminder that hockey sticks and pucks are NOT PERMITTED on the Jellybean rink or Pleasure Rink/Loops.
Our ODR will be operating through our reservation system.
• Bookings will be accepted on a first come – first serve basis.
• Only our Land Based Hockey Rink will require reservation with a maximum capacity of 8 people.
• Bookings will open up to 4 days in advance.
• In order to allow fair access to all residents, bookings will be limited to 1-time slot per day, per household. Each skating member must be booked individually. Please only book for the number of members on the ice.
• All other skating rinks & loops will be for walk up usage only, and no booking will be required.
• Walk-ups will be allowed on a first come first serve basis ONLY if time slots have not been filled, or there are no-shows.
• If you are more than 15 minutes late, your reservation may be forfeited for other residents who are waiting as a walk up.
In consideration of other residents who may want to reserve the Land Based Hockey Rink (ODR), please contact the gatehouse at 780-756-6772 to cancel your reservation. Repeated no-shows may result in restricting a household’s booking privileges.

Please note that in the event of a snowfall, our staff will work as quickly as possible to clear the surfaces! In cases where maintenance or snow removal must occur, we may have to ask you to move to another surface. The daily rink opening schedule will look like the following:
10:00am Lake Hockey Rinks 1 & 2
10:15am Lake Hockey Rink 3
10:30am Lake Pleasure Rink/Loop & Land Based Hockey Rink (ODR)
10:45am Land Based Pleasure Rink (Jellybean)
During any days where temperatures are above 0 degrees and our ice surfaces have the potential to get damaged due to warmer weather, restrictions could be in place on rink use to keep our surfaces in the best condition possible. The SSRA reserves the right to cancel bookings and close ice surfaces on short notice, if deemed ice surfaces are not safe. Available booking slots are subject to change at any time. HOW TO RESERVE AN ICE TIME
1. Visit our website www.lakesummerside.ca
2. Click on ‘Reservations’ tab & scroll down to find the link
3. From the link provided select your desired ice surface
4. Choose the date and select a time
5. Fill-in your contact information and the number of skaters attending.
6. You will receive a confirmation email. Please contact the office if you have further questions or have not received your email confirmation.
