Ice Status: Ice Surfaces CLOSED for the season

Hey there Summerside!

Wow, isn’t the weather just amazing lately? But hey, with all this warmth and soft ice, it’s time to bid farewell to skating for the season as of today, March 11, 2024. This time of year, the shoreline can quickly retract, making it difficult for us to maintain our rinks and ensure everyone’s safety.

But hey, it’s not all gloom and doom! The lake’s still a hotspot for foot traffic and ice fishing, according to our recent ice measurements. However, we’re keeping our flags YELLOW, just to be cautious. Keep an eye out for any cracks or water on the ice, especially with the temperatures rising it can fluctuate rapidly, and vary from location to location on the lake If you spot any trouble, make sure to exit promptly and give us a heads-up!

Now, for those who aren’t in the know, YELLOW flags mean there’s a bit of risk on the lake. So, keep tabs on our website for updates and play it safe out there! Check the current lake status anytime at www.lakesummerside.ca > ‘Flags’ > Current Status.

Remember, this is just a quick rundown of our rules. For all the nitty-gritty details, hop over to www.lakesummerside.ca > ‘About Us’ > Rules & Regulations.

And hey, while we’re saying goodbye to skating, we’re looking forward to sunny beach days ahead! Stay tuned with us on social media, our website, and through our newsletter for any updates. And if you’ve got questions, we’re just a call away! Reach us at the office: 780-497-7558 or the gatehouse: 780-756-6772.
